Pearls of Wisdom

Here by the water’s edge,
Listening to what the sea brings,

I know deep down
Even a grain of sand sings

Wondrous things.

  5. Friends,

Your comments overwhelm me--perhaps I should move further back from the shore:O)!!

In all seriousness, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this simple song.

  6. I like the idea of singing grains of sand. In Manchester-by-the-Sea in Massachusetts there is a Singing Beach--if you run barefoot across the beach, the sand "sings". Actually it's more like a squeaking sound, as if the sand grains were conversing with the sea and then these human feet pounded by, disrupting the conversation. Even if you run softly, it still sounds like "eek, eek, eek, eek, eek." But I absolutely love this little poem, and yes you're right, they do often tell of wondrous things.

  7. Annie,

Intriguing, this "singing beach"--I thought it was merely a figment of my imagination! Thank you for the information and for your kind words about the poem.
