I don’t know about this
She loves me, she loves me not
Love-hate business but all this talk
Of hard work making America
What it is makes me want
To lie stark naked
In a field full of flowers
And peel off her clothes
One-by-one till she lies there
Doing nothing fully
Exposed too.
Too much moralising makes Jack a dull boy. This sounds like a good antidote, Vassilis.
ReplyDeleteYep, there’s nothing better for a bromide than a ripping good exposé to strip them platitudes away.
ReplyDeleteA small willful deliberate misreading of this poem makes "she/her" into America.
ReplyDeleteAnd she ought to be eternally grateful to you for this undeserved gesture of consideration, Vassilis.
But the being exposed part... that might make her a wee bit nervous. After all these years.
No way she gonna worry--with all that Botox circulating on the street, she'll get her fix.
