Epitaph

It’s time I got this off my chest—
The more I put down on paper,
The less my soft heart felt
Like a marble headrest.

  2. Love the first line, Vassilis. The whole, in fact, reads like sijo. The opening is where (thanks to two beautifully inverted lines) the marble heart really lies.

    Remarkable!

  3. This came straight into my soft felt head:

"A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh". Ezekiel 36:26

Can't think of any better reasons to write, Vassilis. Thank you.

  4. Thanks, Conrad for the sijo comparison and you Duncan for the reference to Ezekiel—both comments help me to look at this small effort from a different, larger perspective.
