Morning Coffee

Before the large eastern window, remembering
Another dawn and that small dark bird darting
From silver-green olive branch to olive branch—

Now, savoring the light spilling once more
Over the mountains, long leisurely sips
Of darkness in-between.

  1. Gorgeous! I know that bird, too—but here, where there are no olives, he darts from pine to pine....

  2. No better way to drink coffee than drinking in the darkness...strong and devoid of any lightness....

  5. It's good to know there are other early birds out there sharing a cup that runneth over!
