Southern Exposure

In a stretch of winter sunshine,

Against a harsh weather-
Worn veranda wall,

Soft blue slippers up-
Right in the afternoon,

Next to a beckoning
Red-pillowed chair.

  1. What a wonderful poem-painting!
I can not only imagine it, I am
    already there,
    heading for that
    chair!

  2. Vivid both visually and as sound. Wonderful how the word "chair" sounds there, at the end (or should that be "under the end"?).

  3. Indeed, wonderful
But where are the two worn out wooden shoes?

  4. Interesting to see that all three of you have had some real "exposure" to Greece--perhaps this is what has made you so receptive to this particular poem; whatever the case, thanks to you all for commenting!

ps. the wooden shoes are in hibernation, waiting to spring out into the garden when springtime comes!
