I can well appreciate how you approach Thanksgiving Day, since it is an American tradition and remains so remote for those people who have never experienced it. You would probably get a similar reaction if you mentioned "Vegemite" to someone who has never lived in Australia!
I have an odd relationship with thanksgiving, from so far away. A sort of culture shock.
