Yip, what's done is done and there's just no changing it. Learn from it, then ditch it. It takes years to learn this though. Shifting perspective of aging, I suppose? Funny, however, is that this has taken more words to say than you use in your poem... that'll be why it's a short, sweet and perfectly stated poem and this isn't.
