The tightly knit sonic webs in any Vassilis poem reward slow reading, becoming noticeable, becoming a part of the meaning, in proportion as one takes the time to attend.
That one long "i" in "silence", returning as a "sigh", gives this poem coherence, a dimension greater than may appear, and -- dare one murmur the forbidden word -- a satisfying sense of closure.
A large return on a modest investment. And no loopholes.
