Poetry Only As Old As You Feel

—for Joe Hutchison

Honestly, I’m an old man
But I’m not really
That old.

I was just

Feeling my age when
These lines came to me,
Forever young.

  1. Second only to the pleasure of having occasioned this fine poem is the pleasure of seeing you slip one of my heroes, Bob Dylan, into it: the only stage on which the two of us will ever appear together! Thanks, amigo....

  2. I should be the one to do the thanking; after all the entire poem--sans the last two words courtesy of Dylan--are yours. All I did was supply a title, Sir Joseph!
