Huuklyeand Cinquor on Poetry and the Mother Lode

Like any prospector hot on prosperity’s trail,
I claim my fair share of digging for nuggets—

But you know what?
No fool ever struck it rich by pretending

He was looking for gold.

Moderator’s comments: I can dig this, but what about all those poor fools who never pretended a spade was not a spade?

  1. Vassilis,

Cinquor found a nugget in a line like "No fool ever struck it rich by pretending/He was looking for gold."

  2. Conrad,
Cinquor wasted no time in replying to your comment, to wit:

    Vazambam—

Your Mr. DiDiodato certainly knows a good line when he sees one and he swallowed this one hook, line and sinker!

I wholeheartedly agree with his assessment of your critical ability but am dismayed he should think you so gullible. May I apologize in his stead and thank you for commenting?
