Cusp

yel-
low

little
sun-

lit
leaf

hanging, twirling on
a spider’s lone

silver thread, how many
twists and turns before you

flutter
in

to
the

twi-
light
just

ahead.

  1. Now this is frustratingly brilliant! I say frustratingly because it has no right to be so lovely with the words so sliced and diced, but oh my, the music it releases when it's said out loud is delicious. The kind of poem you have to say again, more slowly, right away, a second and third time at least....

  2. Amigo, many thanks for your flattering comments; not much "going on" in this poem in the way of "substance" but I think you're right when you mention its music, and I'm pleased your discerning ear pointed it out!
