Fall where they may, 

If they could talk, these humble 

Leaves would have acres to say 

Of their brief 

Yet colorful sojourn on Earth, 

Whereas we who have the power 

Of high-sounding speech, utter 

Utter asininities day-after-day,

 

Pretending what we mumble, 

More often than not, takes this 

Too, too precious pedestrian 

Breath of ours away.

 

 

Unchanging Face Of Evil

You will come to know it 

Deep in your heart 

By the way it tries 

To turn your head 

This way and that, 

With you 

Refusing all the while 

To look the other way 

With nary a second thought.

 

Integrity: A Summing Up

How, after all the hollow, 

Speechless years spent

In the company 

Of the unprincipled 

Many, one word is now 

Enough to break 

Your vow of silence in- 

To inviolate pieces-- 

Keep on repeating it 

Till it rings true.
