Reverberations

Cicadas?

Long after you stop wondering
Where they’ve gone, the air’s still

Thrumming underground.

  2. A haunting poem, Vassilis. Cicadas aren't common where we are. First time I heard them was along the Kansas River near Lawrence. I've dreamt about them several times since. Must be that thrumming underground....

  3. Tom and Joe,

Just as a Greek summer is unimaginable without cicadas, so is Modern Greek poetry inconceivable without Seferis. To give you a representative picture of both, here is that wonderful poem "The Thrush" accompanied by Seferis' letter to George Katsimbalis on "The Thrush".

    Thanks again!
